The Impacts of Technology and Social Media on the Youth Technology and Social Media have a huge impact on the youth today. From cyber bullying, to not knowing how to communicate with people, to self- image, and to something as simple as not knowing how to read a map, are just some of the many negative ways that social media and technology have impacted the youth. People have forgotten the meaning and value of family, kids don’t go outside and play anymore, and our faces are constantly buried in our phones. â€Å"Today’s society needs to see that technology is affecting us in such negative ways: emotionally, in our relationships, in education, in health and bullying. I have found that many people today do not realize just how much technology affects a person.† (Marlena Ramierz) At such a young age, kids are given iPads, phones, and computers. You can go anywhere in public and see several young kids with technology in their hands. It’s a way for parents to keep their kids quite, but at the same time, it’s corrupting the youth at such a young age. It’s giving kids a gateway to so many opportunities at such a young age.
